Unit 1- Scientific Thinking in Experimental Settings

The Goals of this Unit are:

Alignment with KY Program of Studies : Introduction: Graphing/Mathematics Models/Scientific Methods/ Technology

• Experimental design and Data Analysis, Mathematical Modeling
  Build a qualitative model-- How to graph data and write the equations from the graphs.
  Identify and Classify variables- What is an independent variable, what is a dependent variable, what are appropriate constants for an experiment

• Learn to use Graphical Analysis (Vernier) software.  Note:  To download a sample version of the program that you can use at home go to www.vernier.com/tech/updates.html.
• Develop linear relationships ; understand different ways the same relationship can be represented (see sheet in notebook)
• Relate mathematical and graphical expressions.

• Know how to work the web homework problems
