This is a picture of Impression Sunrise painted by Claude Monet.

The painting "Impression Sunrise" was first shown in a group show.  The show was  in Paris in 1874. The painting was attacked by critics as being too fuzzy or out of focus.  One critic by the name of Louis Leroy said of the painting:  "wallpaper in its embryonic state is more finishes."

The painting shows two boats and the industrial city in the background.  Notice how uneven the brushstrokes are and how soft the colors are.  Also notice the reflection of the sun in the water.  Monet was extremely interested in reflection and especially water.
