Dear Parents,      Welcome to a new school year with many new beginnings. I am delighted to be teaching kindergarten again for this school year. I especially look forward to meeting and working with you and your child. Your support and input is crucial to the success of our program and is welcomed at any time.       My teaching experience includes twenty-six years in private and public schools, both rural and city areas. Seventeen of those years, I've taught at the kindergarten level. I received training in North Carolina with many of the innovative practices that Kentucky desires under KERA. My approach to teaching children is to utilize developmentally appropriate, hands-on-learning activities. All units of study are integrated. To develop the readiness skills students' need in reading and writing, I will use the whole language approach and other teaching strategies such as phonics and language experience.
