It’s time to begin preparing for Dance SCAPA 2009! Our
teachers and students are already selecting music, working on new choreography,
and ordering costumes. The production staff is busy working on scheduling and
financing the Opera House performances. We’re excited to invite YOU to become a
vital part of our team! Dance SCAPA is a major production and we need each of
you to volunteer in some way to make this a successful event for your dancer.
- Rehearsal week at the Opera House begins Monday, February 2nd. A
detailed Opera House rehearsal and performance schedule will be distributed
in January. Rehearsal and performance week is a long process and demands a
great deal of time and energy. It is important that our dancers eat healthy
foods and get plenty of rest. Dance majors are required to attend all
scheduled rehearsals and performances. Please inform your dance studios now
of the commitment that will be required for Dance SCAPA.
- School performances are Thursday, February 5th at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00
p.m. with an additional show on Friday, February 6th at 10:00 a.m. Full
dress rehearsal will be Thursday afternoon, February 5th, after the school
performance. Public performances are at 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday,
February 6th and 7th. You will be notified later about ticket information
availability for the night performances.
- All students are asked to pay a $50 performance fee to defray production
costs. Scholarships are available if you qualify for free or reduced
lunch. Please see Ms. Erbe for a scholarship form if you are
on free or reduced lunch. Please have all scholarship requests to her by the
1/07/09 due date! The scholarship will only cover the fees and will not
cover the t-shirt or any additional items. Please mark the t-shirt size on
the form and make sure to include the money for the t-shirt in your payment
or it won’t be ordered. We will be transporting elementary and
middle school dancers to and from the Opera House for rehearsals and the
school shows. High School Students will be transported back to Lafayette
after the school show on Friday. High school dancers may not ride back
to school on Friday with another student due to Fayette County Policy. They
may ride the bus back or have a parent transport them.
- A volunteer form is included in this packet. PLEASE FIND AT LEAST ONE
AREA IN WHICH YOU WILL BE ABLE TO VOLUNTEER! We appreciate your help very
much!
- Order forms for Dance SCAPA program one-liners and flower bouquets are
also enclosed in this packet. These are due by the 1/07/09 deadline, as
well. No orders for one-liners can be accepted after this deadline due to
printing deadlines.
