Guidance Information

Mrs. Watson is the Child Guidance Specialist at Dixie.  She received her Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in Elementary Education (1-8) and Special Education (K-12).  Her Master's Degree is in Elementary School Guidance and Counseling (K-8) from the University of Kentucky.  Upon completion of her Master's she went back to Eastern to complete her Rank I in Elementary School Counseling.

Mrs. Watson enjoys working with all ages of students and looks forward to class time.  Guidance class covers many different subjects such as communication skills, appropriate social interactions, conflict resolution, making friends, safety, drug and alcohol prevention, harassment, career education, character education, etc. 

Mrs. Watson believes that every child is unique and has a worthwhile contribution to make in our society.  Class offers the opportunity for our school community to share ourselves with others as we learn about those that may be different from ourselves.  Respect and consideration of others is basic to our success as individuals.  Guidance class also focuses on maintaining a positive attitude while achieving our goals and working with others.
