Our class have been studying about Electricity and Magnetism for Science. We will be building electrical circuits powered by D cells, and draw pictures as well as schematic diagrams to represent electric circuits. We will conduct investigations about the parts of a light bulb, batteries, conductors and insulators, and to build circuits powered by batteries.
You could help your child's understanding and interest in magnetism and electricity through asking him/her questions about the investigation we are doing at school. Also remember to watch what we have written in our weekly newsletter.
To help you child investigate electricity and magnetism you might provide an old appliance for him/her to take a part and try to recognize the components of the circuit. You can explore the appliance together t discover how it's a wire and where the connections are make.
We can not emphasis enough the importance of safety when investigating a circuit. You might want to review your home safety rules. Do not open any appliance that is still plug in. Do not bring magnets near computers, video tapes or audio recordings.
Students are very excited about theses investigations and we look forward to share some of your experiences with our classes.
