Darion F.

Viola

The viola is the middle instrument of the string family and is closely related to the violin. It is an octave higher than the cello. The viola has a lower tone than the violin but higher tone than the cello and double bass. The viola is held like a violin and has a C string, like the cello, instead of an E string, like the violin. The viola is usually bigger than the average violin

The viola produces tone by either bowing on the strings (friction against rosin) or plucking the strings (vibrating the strings with your fingers) to create vibrations which resonate through the body of the viola and eventually coming out F holes.

The viola makes pitch differentiation by pressing the strings against the fingerboard.

The viola is constructed of (a) plastic chin rest, fingerboard, pegs.

The viola is constructed of (a) metal strings, fine tuners.

The viola is constructed of (a) wooden body, neck, scroll.

This is the basic overall design and information about how it works. I hope youve learned about the construction and tone production of the viola.
