I am so glad to have this opportunity to teach your child.
It is going to be an exciting year!
CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
I believe in a hands-on/project based oriented environment. There will be an emphasis
on research/writing, thematic studies and center type activities.
SNACK TIME
Your child may bring a healthy snack each day.
BIRTHDAYS
You may send treats or purchase treats from the cafeteria for your child’s birthday.
Please note: In order to respect the feelings of all students, invitations to parties will only be
distributed if the entire class is invited or if all the boys are invited if you have a son or
all the girls are invited if you have a daughter.
CONFERENCES
I will schedule a conference during the first or second grading period to review your
child's initial assessments and discuss goals. A student led conference will be held in the
Spring.
ITEMS
Please send any money/permission slips (etc.) in a baggie labeled with your child’s name.
Transportation
A written notice must be sent for all changes in your child's transportation. Also please
make sure your child's transportation tag remains on his or her backpack at all times and that
your child brings his or her backpack everyday. These procedures are in place to ensure the
safety of your child.
Take Home Folder
Your child should bring his or her Take Home folder to and from school everyday.
Please be sure to clean out and go through the papers in your child's Take Home folder
every night.
Daily Assignment Notebook
Every child will be responsible for his or her daily assignment notebook (planner). This will serve as a communication tool between home and school. All daily activities/concepts will be listed. The planner will go home nightly. Please go over the planner with your child every night, sign it, and make sure it is brought back to school the next day. Please use your child’s planner to communicate with me as needed. The planners will be checked each morning for your signature and any correspondence from you. You may also email or call if needed.
