A. A West African form where one group calls something musically and another group answers back.

A. A form of music where the first part sounds different than the second part.

 Q. What is ABA form?

A. A form of music that has three sections.  The first part sounds one way, the second part is different, and the third part sounds like the first.

 Q.  What is a round?

A. When one group sings a song and another group sing the same song at a different time.  A round creates harmony . (ex. Row, row, row your boat can be sung in a round).

Q. What is verse chorus form?\

A. A form of music that is very popular in the Appalachian folk culture.  The verse is the same melody sung over, with different words or lyrics.  The chorus has the same melody and lyrics every time it is sung.

A.  Music that is created to express emotions, feelings, ideas, or experiences.  Ex. Music that is created and performed in a concert for an audience.

A. plucking, strumming or bowing the instrument

Purposes of Music

C-Ceremonial--music for specific events such as a wedding or a hunting ritual

 

A-Artistic Expression--music that is made to express.  Concerts and Operas                    are examples of this purpose of Music.

R-Recreational--Music for Fun!  Game songs are an example of this purpose of music!
