Teacher Biographies:

Annie Hohl is starting her fourth year of teaching at Edythe J. Hayes Middle.  She teaches seventh grade language arts for the best team in the school – the Jaguars!  Also, she is one of two academic team coaches and organizes school participation in Fayette County’s Relay For Life.  Before coming to Hayes, she graduated from the University of Kentucky (UK) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in middle school education.  While at UK, she was a member of the Wildcat Marching Band color guard and a clarinet player in the pep band.  You can’t beat free tickets to both football and basketball games.  Music plays a big role in her classroom.  If you walk down the 7A hallway on UK game day, you can expect to hear the UK fight song!
While she is a true blue fan, she was born and raised in Gahanna, Ohio – Go BUCKS!  Since living in Kentucky, she has lived in Lancaster, Lawrenceburg, and Lexington.  She graduated second in her class from Anderson County High School (ACHS).  Two of her four siblings (three sisters and one brother) also graduated from ACHS.  An interesting fact to know is that Annie and her three sisters all have the same first name: Mary!  Other than being around her family and friends, she enjoys traveling, reading, writing, playing and watching sports, volunteering, and being outdoors.  Currently, Annie has a published poem and is writing a children’s book for possible publication.

Jeorgette Vanzant has been teaching science with Fayette County Public School since 1988. She has been with EJ Hayes since it opened in 2004.  She loves frogs… just see her room with all the frogs!!!  Previous to coming to Hayes Middle she taught at Jessie Clark Middle where she was the girls track coach for 13 years.  A little unknown fact… she also was the only paid female assistant football coach from 1991-1995 in Fayette County for Jessie Clark. In that time her track team won 5 back to back county girls track championships and 1 football championship.  She is a huge sports nut!!!!  She is also a die-hard Cubs fan!!
She grew up in Muncie, Indiana and graduated from Delta High School in 1982.  In 1987 she graduated from David Letterman’s Alma matter, Ball State University, with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Junior High/Middle School Education in Science and Social Studies.  After moving to Kentucky in 1988 she began her Master’s Degree program at Eastern University majoring in Middle School Curriculum & Development.  She received that degree in 1992.  Currently she has 9 hours towards her rank 1 at the University of Kentucky.
Mrs. Vanzant is married to Marty and they have a 4 legged child (a Siberian husky) who has beautiful blue eyes, a very furry tail, and thinks he is human. In the summer you can find her reading, gardening, cross-stitching, or playing ball with her dog.
