   Parents/Guardians:

Wow, its hard to believe that its November and that we are beginning our second    grading period!  The students are working extremely hard. In fact, the 7B Wildcats had the highest GPA for the first grading period.  We are so very proud of them.

Please continue to check the webpage and/or call the homework hotline for daily homework assignments.

Thanks,

 Communication:

The Wildcat Team is big on communication, therefore you can check out what is happening in   classrooms on our Wildcat Team website. This website is updated daily with a summary of what  happened in each class along with any homework assignments. To reach this website simply go to the E. J. Hayes website http://www.ejhayes.fcps.net/ and at the top click on Wildcat Team, then on the left hand side you will click on daily homework page.  You may also call our homework hotline to receive daily homework. This year the Wildcat team will keep in touch with parents with our first ever Wildcat Newsletter. It is our plan to produce this newsletter updating parents of school and team events. In addition we would like to send home a team grade check with this newsletter prior to mid-term grades being posted each nine weeks. By doing so we hope that this will allow students to keep focused and not allow their grades to fall, while keeping parents informed of what is actually happening at school.  Therefore, throughout a nine week grading period, students will receive a progress grade sheet (along with a newsletter), a mid-term grade, and a nine week grade notice. We realize that seventh grade is a time for students to gain some independence; so we try to give students some freedom within limits. Rest assured if we feel it is necessary we will not hesitate to contact a parent or guardian for a conference.  Keep in mind that we function as a complete team and we hold any parent conferences with the entire team of teachers. Of course this can be difficult with scheduling conflicts; therefore, the Wildcat Team will host parent conferences as needed only on Thursdays from 9:15am-9:45am or 12:30-1:00pm or by appointment.  Please feel free to reach any of your student’s teachers by email as needed.

Athletics

Students at EJ Hayes have many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities.  Several of these activities begin before the school year begins, such as football, volleyball, dance and cheerleading.  Information on try outs for these sports is enclosed, but please remember that in order to participate in try outs students must have an updated sports physical, which is different than a school physical.  The sports physical form may be downloaded from our website, or you can pick one up in the front office.
