HOMEWORK FOR Friday 9/5/08
Mrs. Hope Benavides: Language Arts:
LanguageArts---Benavides:
We studied limericks as part of our poetry unit. After looking at some examples, students wrote two limericks of their own and shared one of them with the class.
New vocabulary unit starts Monday---test on Friday.
Literature circles will begin next week. Students should have finished reading their summer reading project books by now. Projects are due October 8.
NO HOMEWORK!!
Ms. Hicks: Social Studies: No homework, bell ringer & extra credit work.
Mrs. Michaels: Language Arts:
In Mrs. Michaels class today students tested again on their grammar post test. Students then worked in their literature circles and analyzed and discussed the beginning of the novels they had read. We also had D.E.A.R. time to encourage students to want to read.
Mrs. Griffis: Students did a ROAR & live score on ORQ. Homework: finish weathering ORQ. Quiz next Wed over weathering.
Mr. Hall:
Pre-Algebra: Homework-Pg. 19 & 20 (#3-41)
Course 2: Homework- Page 20, (4-35, all) if not finished in class.
Ms. Foster's Algebra:
Algebra: No homework.

Mrs. Hope Benavides: Language Arts: Students completed their GROW folders. Read & complete questions. No homework.
Ms. Hicks: Social Studies: None. Students took a quiz & took notes over Sumarians.
Mrs. Michaels: Language Arts: Students learned about rhyme scheme, acrostic poems, describing poem. No homework tonight.
Mrs. Griffis: Students turned in homework. Starter, discussed homework problems and worked through them, & watched a video on Weathering. No homework tonight.
Mr. Hall:
Pre-Algebra: Today we went over absolute value. NO HOMEWORK
Course 2: Today we discussed and practiced Properties. NO HOMEWORK

Language Arts—Benavides:
2nd/3rd block: We reviewed information in the poetry packets and analyzed a poem in class. No homework.
5th period: Continued with poetry power point.
6th/7th block: Finished power point and had time to work on homework from yesterday. Analyzed poem in class. No homework.
***No vocabulary words this week due to Labor Day. We will start a new vocabulary/spelling list on Monday 9/8. Test will be on Friday 9/12.
Ms. Hicks: Social Studies: Graded homework, watched video on Mesopotamia. No homework tonight..
Mrs. Michaels: Language Arts:
Mrs. Michaels class went to the library today and analyzed a poem of their choice. Next, the students blogged answers about their poem. Students who received a 60% or lower on their grammar post test are to be completing a grammar review packet. Those students who turn in their packet will be re-tested on Friday.
Mrs. Griffis: Students completed a FRAME on Weathering, watched Brainpop video clip, and were given question sheet as homework that is due tomorrow.
Mr. Hall:
Pre-Algebra: Finish fractions sheet for tomorrow.
Course2: Homework 2 sheets over exponents & order of operations.
Ms. Foster's Algebra: Homework page 38, numbers 1-30 even only.

Today we went to the library for book return and check-out.
Second and sixth periods took the spelling test.
We finished the poetry power point and students began writing their own rhyming poem.
Homework: Finish writing poem if you did not finish in class.

Mrs. Michaels: Language Arts:
Mrs. Michaels class worked on creating G.R.O.W. folders today in class. The students are charting their own progress on pre and post tests. Students are continuing to work on poetry in class. Tonight students need to finish reading their summer reading books to begin literature circles this week.
Mrs. Griffis: Students corrected quizzes were returned, along with several graded papers. We began weathering & erosion. Students took notes, that accompanied a PowerPoint. Visuals on various weathering agents.

Pre-Algebra: Today we worked on vocabulary for Unit 1 and reviewed Order of Operations. Homework: Pg 724 Lesson 1-2
Course2: Today we worked on vocabulary for Unit 1 and corrected quizzes. Homework: Finish vocabulary sheet.
