Summer By Abby T., 6th This was the summer of a life time. “This” my mom said “will be a time in paradise.” We are all going on a 2 month curse around the world. We are on our way there now. “Here we are” said dad. “No dad this is not the place we are boarding the ship, just look at the port, it looks like if we walk on it the pier will fall.” I said. “You’re right sweetheart, John are you sure you know were we are?” mom said. “Sure I do” said dad “We are on our way to a great vacation.” “Excuse me but we are here for our 2 month vacation around the world.” “Lady we like only offer like week vacation. Like can’t you like totally like read?” “I told you dad we aren’t going any where!” Did you even open that GPS I gave you I wanted you to use it today.” “No I am sorry all we have to do is find the closes gas station” “What we ran out of gas?” And now we shall take an intermission to let my parents fight. A few minutes latter “I will drive to the nearest gas station but if we break down you get to push!” “Ok ok” Now we will take a break a you will read my journal. Dear Diary, I can’t believe that we are almost to the pier! It is so exciting. Oh my gosh dad just pulled up to the pier and, the pier looks nothing like what the brochure showed. The brochure showed a beautiful clean pier with a few stores, a huge ship and hundreds of people. This was a dirty, broken worn out pier with only one store, a tiny boat and no people what so ever. “Jenny sweetie help your father push the car.” Mom said “But mom I won’t help I am too weak.” “Get out of the car and help your dad” “Ok ok but if you run me over,” “I will not run you over.” Mom said quietly “you and your imagination” I got out of the car and started pushing. As I pushed I saw old worn down houses with missing shingles. Houses with tin roofs and missing side boards. I saw one room houses and one story houses. Then I saw the largest house I have seen in my life. It was shiny, 6 stories, curtains, a marble staircase and a limo outside. Dad joked “Maybe we could ask them for a ride.” We started cracking up. Mom yelled out the window “Keep it down out there!” “We will keep it down” we both yelled. In no time I saw a gas station. We filled up the car and then we were back on the road. Mom wants to drive this time so we wouldn’t get lost again. We got out dad’s GPS and wrote in Harris’s Pier. It turns out that we were driving in the wrong direction, so we turned around and drove. We listened to the most boring book on tape Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone. Then I watched the Secret Garden and read Animal Farm. Here is my journal entry. Dear Diary, This has been the worst day of this summer. I even forgot my game boy. I am so hungry and so tired. I think I might -------. “Sweetie wake up we are stopping for lunch.” Said mom while she poked me. “I am awake mom you can stop poking me.” “We are having your favorite for lunch.” “Steak n shake thanks mom!” “Jenny look at what this sign says, it says that this town is hunted by an old mayor who was killed by his vice mayor and still searches for him to get his revenge.” “Dad you are actually going to believe that sign?” “Sweetie your dad would jump off a cliff if it was on a sign.” “I would not!” “Are we going to eat lunch or not?” “Jen is right.” “Ladies first.” “Thanks dad.” “I’ll sue you!” “You’ll do what Jen.” “I’ll take all your money.” “Sweetie you can have it when I die, wait what are you talking about, Jenny” “Mom I am listening to my I-pod.” “Oh I thought you were talking to me.” After that comment dad and I started laughing and when we laugh there is no stopping us. Once we laughed for 5 straight hours this time we only laughed for one hour which passed time and was really annoying for mom who was trying to drive and just drove us into more laughter. After that I felt sick so mom fed me which helped a lot. Then mom thought it would be so much fun to sing a song. Sometime I think mom thinks I am a 5 year old. I just sat there quietly texting. Mom got to the pier just in time but you know what really stinks we got there 2 days early. Mom was so tired we just got a hotel room she fell asleep and dad took me down to the beach. We stayed at the beach until dinner time then we had dinner at the hotel. The next day we went touring around the town of Harrisville. We saw an old light house, we played at the beach, we took a horse drawn carriage around the town and we went dolphin watching. Some dolphins just swam around us and did a few tricks. We went back to the hotel I swam in the pool. We went to sleep all of us thinking about the cruise. The next day we went to the beach and got packing. Soon we were on the cruise ship and on our way around the world. This would probably be the most fun I have had in my life. I made new texting buddies and after 2 years I am still e-mailing them. This story has gotten both my parents made fun of in a good way. I hoped I will hear some funny stories like this from you.
