A Strange Day in the Galaxy!
By: Aidan, 4th grade
I am a half lion–half cheetah with a human brain. I awoke in a ship orbiting the planet Alpha 9. I was still groggy from being ejected into space when the Earth blew up. I realized I was in a cage that I soon discovered was a mile long, wide, and tall. After climbing the cavern-riddled surface of the half-mile high mountain in the center of the cage I reached a small plateau near the top of the mountain. A week later, I had proudly completed my Japanese-style house.
Also during the course of the week I discovered that 16 other freaky looking creatures are living in the cage other than me. One of those creatures just happened to
be Andy my best Earth friend. (Somehow Andy got bonded to a pteranodon and a red-tailed hawk. I have no idea how that happened)
One day I arose and walked onto the plateau. I announced to the people loitering around the outside of the cage. I said “The owner of this ship uses us, one by one he rips our lives to shreds. He uses the money we make by showing our oddity to cater to his own evil whims.” I shouted over the din made by the people. So people, I beg you ,please let us free.” I said.
The roar from the people was overpowering. They all rushed off in the direction of the owner’s suite. A few minutes later, I heard a distant shwoop! I realized the owner had been ejected into space. I shuddered at the thought. Soon the cage shut down. Andy and I searched for hours then, suddenly we found the control room. We pushed all the buttons until we set a course for the Unnamed Planet. Once we arrived at the jungle cap of the Unnamed Planet there was a mad rush for the hover transports. After a long descent through the atmosphere we made a sudden stop. We searched the cap from side to side and all around but there were no sign of any life forms that hit or went above human intelligence level.
We started off towards the mountain (which strangely looked like the mountain in the cage.) We slowly wound our way up the mountain stopping at intervals to let people off.
We reached a large plateau (which through some strange circumstances looked like the one in the cage.) I walked over to the featureless wall. I thought, “Wouldn’t a Japanese style house look good carved into this wall?”
