Sonnets

By:  Aidan, 5th grade

Aidan’s attempt at sonnet’s #1

In the creeping darkness, all alone

Thought of you sustains my surviv’l

through the gate to heavn’s wide arms

all afar from human contact

I beweep my desol’te state.

All alone I fear for my surviv’l

I give in at darkness’s breast

I beweep your forlorn cries,

All alone I cry for my release,

Screaming for my surviv’l,

I lose the sleep I fear the most

All alone, I lose the will to live

I give in at Heavn’s wide gates

You I dread to meet within.

Aidan’s attempt at sonnet’s #2

How can the sun’s bright eyes

Compare to the green of the grass

Growing under the watchful eyes

That lurk behind heavn’s door

The moon’s dimm’ng eyes

Give the earth to a shadow’s smile

Silver over-tak’ng the showr’n

Water-shine

In the dawn of day’s rebirth

The suns yawn’ng head

Peaks at heavn’s shining crown

At the dawn of night’s death

The day ov’r taking

All of our sleep

Aidan’s attempt at sonnet’s #3

In the month of fall’s glim’rn eye

The dying light of summer’s train

Shadows the foot of wintr’s day.

All of spring lies in its shell,

Unaware of wintr’s dark cov’rn,

It sleeps ev’r far on

Wintr’s unrelenting grip

Loosens at springs sharp urging

Sum’r gives on in sudden haste

Long before fall’s killing grip

Spring heaves up its mighty bounty

In summer’s caressing arms

Aidan’s attempt at sonnet’s #4

The stars on sun’s lying bed

Glow’ring at the world

Their fortune misshapen

They weepweep in sorrow

The stars, the stars-

How they glow

Basking in the light

Of their selfish hearts

Condemm’d in pain

To seek the light

That burneth so brightly

In the harts of the timid child

For stars give in, in truest pleas

For the light they denied

Aidan’s attempt at sonnet’s #5

The heart weeps in sorrow

For the lover’s return

Through the depths

Of time

For life itself hath no meaning

In the river of sorrow

At two lover’s parting

For the mind loses its hold

And gives in

To the tears of rage

And the silence of love

Ripped in two

Love forbidden is the sweetest love

No matter the sour tears of failure

Aidan’s attempt at sonnet’s #6

Bird’s morning star

Rising against the silence

Giving the air to song

Resounding

It flits in graceful succession,

Flight taken so freely,

Ground an illusion

Blue sky, never a limitation

Bright
