John F.

The door to Mascot Industry Inc. swung open. It was surrounded by darkness. Dust filled the air. No one had been in the office for years. There were so many plates on walls so many awards to be won. And a sliver plate on the desk read: Hannah Abou-Jaoude Vice President of the U.S.A.

“The roads will be packed with traffic that day John. Do you really have to go to Dallas? Is it that important John?”
“I have worked on this on this speech...”
“Please don’t go.”
“Never do you dare interrupt the President of the United States, Hannah!” exclaimed John F. Kennedy. “I now am late for the daily bill signing. Goodbye!”
“Wait…”
The door had already shut.
I slowly treaded to my room. If only I had not had lunch with Lee Harvey Oswald. Thinking I was a friend he had revealed to me his plans for killing the president. I thought it best to warn the president but as usual he wouldn’t listen. I marked off another day on my Countries of Europe calendar. One more day until John F. Kennedy arrives in Dallas, Texas.
All things happened for a reason.
The next day was jumpy, filled with excitement and preparations for going to Dallas. I fretted and was nervous all day. Every time I ran into the president I would warn him but he would say, “Stop, badgering me Hannah. I have work to do! There was no hope for him now. I knew he would be the fourth president to be assassinated.

I was now in a grimy jail cell believing I helped Lee Harvey Oswald kill the president I was arrested and I am to spend 50 years in this cell. I pulled the sheets if my filthy bed over me and fell into a restless sleep.
