The Wind

Umbrellas fly in its path

Nothing stands in its way

Friend of the Big Bad Wolf

It huffs and puffs, but luckily

Blows no houses done

So much for

The Three Little Pigs

Sadness

The tear drips down my eye

Followed by a rainstorm

My head buried in a pillow

I fall into a restless sleep

The thunderstorm dries out

And what is left

A desert

And when I wake up

The sadness

Of last night

Is a fog

-         Amir L.

My Office

Please Knock

On L. Quagmire’s office door

He gets angry if you bother him

He’s a writer

So there forth

He’ll be researching

His latest novel

Jotting down notes in a thick book

He’s very neurotic

And he’s not pleased

Being called

By his fans

By his maiden name

After all he is the

Youngest person

To win the Newberry Medal

-Amir L.

The Lion

If I were a lion

I would prowl though the forests

Letting my ferocious cry be heard

Making leaves fall in my path

Having the world bow out to me

Sharpening my claws

With my teeth

Waiting for animals to

Cross my path

And watching it meet its end

Grinding my teeth

Until my pray has vanished

Beneath me

The sun sets

And my fierceness leaks

Out of me

As quick as a rabbit

Hopping around

I never close my eyes

Because I need to catch pray

For the morning

SCAPA

On Lafayette Parkway

A building stands

Representing 9 arts

That the ancients knew

SCAPA

AS of 2008

20 years old

Science, Math and Reading

And Visual Arts too!

SCAPA!
The writing teacher’s sign

Has been up for a decade or two

And 20 years later….

Still as good as new!

SCAPA!

Remember the old days

When the foundation

Was born

Those were days

Full of sweet contents

So let them be remembered

Choosing a pen name

Not too wacky

Not too happy

Like

Peter Harrison Pan

Choosing a pen name

Not too common

Not too American

Like

Lowell Johnson

Not too foreign

Not too hard-to-remember

Like

Rome Ittalie

That’s all the

Pen names I’ve brainstormed

Back to the drawing room
