Halloween

Ana, 7th grade

October 31. I am at school right now watching Thriller. The dance that the middle school Contemporary dance majors perform every year. I’m so excited!!! Darian and I are going tricker treating tonight. I’m going as Juliet and Darian’s going as a Dead Girl. We have been planning this for about two weeks. The whole plan is we’re going to ride to my house, get our costumes on, and then leave. But instead of going around our neighborhood once, we are going around 3 times. Every stop at my house, we change into a different costume and get a new bag. Then, we head out for more.

The First Round

We hit success!! There are so many people on my road that practically dump the whole bowl of candy in are bag. Most of the time the people had chocolates or other candy, but there was only one person that didn’t, and they had something so random and weird….. Cheese crackers and Hi C fruit punch. We decided to take one and not eat it until the end. But the best part of this round was a lot of people were out at Halloween parties so they just left bowls of candy on their porch. Darian took one piece then started off, then she looked back to see if I got a piece, but I dumped the whole bowl into my bag. Darian yelled “Ana!” but I just said “what? It didn’t say the limit we could take.” So she dumped the rest in her bag and we started towards the next victim. That was the end of the first stop.

The Second Round

This time we went as people from So You Think You Can Dance. The costumes had blue and pink strings hanging from a halter top. We also had blue shiny tights that went down to our knees. No one knew that we had switched costumes and went back out for more. They all just treated us like we were normal tricker treaters grabbing up as much candy we could. No one recognized us until we hit my aunt’s house. Once she reached the door she opened it and said “Happy Halloween girls!!” then she reached into her bowl, grabbed some candy, then right before she put it in our bag……… she caught us. But she gave us some any way because she’s so nice…….or she just didn’t want to go get the bowl again. Then came the end of that round. First 2 rounds, one to go.

Round 3

We almost passed out when we finally got back to my house once again. We were so tired by then; we could barely get our costumes on. So we decided to get our sweat pants, a T-shirt, and tennis shoe slippers on. So we basically were out tricker treating with our pajamas on. Once we had our bags emptied, we were getting pretty hungry. Too bad my mom hadn’t gone to the store yet so us searching and searching for food. Until we remembered that someone gave us cheese crackers and juice. We grabbed our snacks and started to walk around my neighborhood for the third time. Though, we got scared that everyone would recognize because we had been around so many times, so we decided to walk the other way. I CANT BELIEVE IT!! No one remembered us again! Plus they gave us double the amount of candy. I don’t know why they never stopped us but then again I didn’t care.

Around the last few houses we tried to stalk up on candy to last us a whole year. We actually got really lucky because the majority of my neighbors are pretty old so they put a lot of good candy and a lot of candy in our bag. Some of the rare candy you can try to pick up around Halloween is mostly Wonka candies, and we got so many from our old neighbors.

The Next Day

The next day at school everyone brought their candies. Some people packed a whole lunch box full! Other people kept asking to trade their candy for something better like…………..Wonka! But only Darian and I had the good stuff. We never did give any candy or trade any candy away, we just kept it all to our selves. That was the best Halloween ever!
