The Halloween Haunt
By: Becca, 6th grade
Twas the night of Halloween, and all was quiet. Except for the all
girls sleepover right down the street from where I live. The address to this
little ‘get together’ is 230 Oak Fall Way. This is the story of a sleepover
haunt. On the night of Halloween, these girls will find something that they
would never have wanted to figure out. Something that will HAUNT them, something
that will SCARE them, something that will TAKE OVER their minds until they are
30. Or later!
“Hey Amanda! Did you hear about the new Haunted Mansion right down the
street from my house? I was thinking that we could go there on Halloween for my
party. That would be so cool. We could stay the night there for the sleepover
and wake up there in the morning. No one has ever been inside the Mansion
before. We could be Halloween legends!!! Hold on, let me send you a picture of
the house.” I quickly went onto my laptop and downloaded the picture of the
Haunted Mansion I took earlier today. I logged onto my chat sight: user:
Babygirl13 pass: Babygirl14.
Babygirl13:
Amandagirl24: That is a great photo! I can’t believe this was from today!
Babygirl13: I know. It looks all dark in the back. But it was really very light
and sunny outside. It’s so freaky! I can’t wait!! This is going to be great
Baylee!
Amandagirl24: But will your mom let you? I mean, you know how strict your mom
is. I don’t think she will let you spend the night in a haunted mansion. I mean,
you know that it was voted the Scariest Haunted Mansion for 5 years running.
This isn’t the best plan you’ve ever had.
Babygirl13: I know. I KNOW! You are starting to sound like my mother now. You
are becoming very scary!
Amandagirl24: Sorry. I didn’t mean it that way. I was just wondering. Why don’t
you go ask your mom? That way we will know about it before we make any further
arrangements.
Babygirl13: Well, I asked my mom and she said that it was okay. So, let’s call
everyone that we know, well, that are our friends, and tell them about the
sleepover at The Haunted Mansion. This is GREAT!
Amandagirl24: That’s great. Well, I have to go. My mom wants me to come down for
dinner. Gotta go. Bye!
I
didn’t have a chance to say good bye. By the time I was about to hit send on my
note, a note came up that Amandagirl24 logged off.
“MOM! Let’s go get my costume!”
“Okay. Get your coat on and meet me downstairs.” I was already going downstairs
when I saw a note under the front door.
This is what the note said:
Be afraid to come to the Haunted Mansion on Halloween night. You will find
things that will HAUNT you. Things that will SCARE you. And things that will
HORRIFY you for the rest of your life.
This is what I didn’t want to see. I didn’t want to mention this to my mom. The
reason is that I didn’t actually tell her about the Haunted
Mansion. I just said that some friends and I were going to stay the night at a
friend’s house down the street.
“This is PERFECT!”
“Yeah Mom. If you want me to be a hippie for Halloween.”
Well, we ended up getting the hippie costume.
When I got home. I threw the hippie dress down on the bed and sat down at my
laptop. And I saw a message from Amanda.
Amandagirl24:
Hey. I’m going to be a hippie for Halloween.
Babygirl13: Me too. Here is my costume.
Amandagirl24: That is so cute! Hey, that is exactly what my dress looks like!
Babygirl13:
Really. That is so weird. Okay. Well, I have to go and try on my costume! TTYL!
I
turned around and took a deep breath. At least I wouldn’t be the only one in
that hippie dress. Amanda and I were going to be twin hippies. This was going to
be the best Halloween EVER!
It’s the night of the Haunted Mansion and I am as ready as ever. Amanda is here
and she is going to help me get ready.
“Hey Baylee. I can’t believe we’re going to spend the night in a Haunted
Mansion!” My friend Sara was really popular. Then maybe Amanda and I can soon be
popular. Tonight is turning out just the way I planned. Nothing can go wrong.
Now, everyone knows that Baylee should’ve thought twice before she said that.
Tonight was not going to be great. In fact, tonight was going to be horrible!!!
“Oh my gosh! This is so great! I can’t believe that this is so realistic! Look
at that those zombies, ghosts, and werewolves. Hey! Watch your heads!” As soon
as Zoe, another popular girl, said that. A whole bunch of bats flew over their
heads then landed onto a broken down bench. Then instantly changed into
vampires. And not the type of thing you wanted to see at a sleepover.
“Um. Let’s go into the living room.” Baylee was practically running into what
she thought was the living room. And she was right. Where she went contained a
broken down catch and table. When they sat down, zombies emerged from underneath
the couch and tried to grab the 4 girls. But they were too fast.
“Guys. I think we should go.” All the girls were running out of the house. They
stood on the lawn to catch a breath. But, zombies started coming out of the
ground and grabbed the girl’s ankles. The girls ripped off their arms and threw
them across the street. And everyone ran home for their lives. Literally.
“Few! That was a close one.” Baylee slammed her bedroom door and all of the
girls took another deep breath. This time for good.
“Well, that was a close one. Let’s promise never again to go to a Haunted House
in our lives. We have all learned a valuable lesson.” And Amanda was exactly
right. They did learn a lesson. To never go into the strong hold of peer
pressure.
Everyone can learn a lesson from Halloween. To watch out what you think and to
listen to what your friend’s. Before you make a strong decision. And that is
what we can learn from Halloween. And from what Baylee did in this story.
So, have a good Halloween. And make good decisions this Halloween. And don’t
underestimate what your friend’s think. Listen to your friend’s before you make
a bad decisions. Your friend’s can be right at the time that you need them. They
are more powerful then you think.
Happy Halloween!!!!
