The Legend of the Stone of Power Casey, 8th grade Long ago, there was a time where mankind was ruled over by a race of beings called the Queerions, a group of insect-like creatures from an alien planet who enslaved the humans many years ago. They forced the humans to cultivate sugar cane, which is one of their most valuable staples. In return they agreed not to destroy the world and devour the people.
Then one day the humans had enough. A man named Eramore led a group of his fellow people to revolt against the empire. The humans fought valiantly, but their weapons were only modified farm tools, finally the revolt was surrounded at Beacon Hill where Eramore led his meager army into a cave that was later sealed. While in it all they could do was wait for the end.
But Eramore went to the back wall of the cave and saw something, a square on the wall with symbols that were unrecognizable. He called for a soldier to lend him his pitchfork; he jammed it into the edge of the square and used it like a lever. The square panel cracked, and then slid out. Behind it was a stone, nothing spectacular, or valuable, just an oddly shaped stone.
Thinking that something of use could be concealed in the rock he ordered a soldier to try to smash it open. When the weapon hit the rock it shattered sending broken steel everywhere. After Eramore got up he saw that the weapon had cracked the stone. Through the crack shone a red glow. Then it shot a blast of light onto the ceiling. It hit a crystal then refracted into many others. Soon the room was glowing with an eerie red light. Suddenly, the wall that the stone was behind slid to the side, beyond it there was a hieroglyph that depicted a man taking the stone opening it up to what is now shown as a jewel then it shows the man using the jewel to destroy a crocodile.
For the next week they were using the stone to slowly excavate the tunnel to make it more spacious. But their supplies slowly started to diminish. Eramore knew what he must do. He took the stone and tried to break open the remaining rock to get the entire jewel. His hands soon were shredded to ribbons. And all he could think about was the rock. The day came when they completely ran out of food and morale.
Eramore took the rock and blew a hole in the stone blocking the door, taking the Queerions by surprise. Eramore stepped out of the cave and put his hands in the air to surrender. But when the sunlight hit the stone, the rock melted off, revealing a deep blue gem glowing with a bright red light emitting from a barely visible core. Then the stone shot a beam of fire red light at the nearest Queerion. He dropped to his knees and shriveled up as he smoldered. Eramore raised the stone higher and as the light hit it fully. A thousand beams streamed out and hit each Queerion. And everyone was saved.
The stone was then put into a staff and given to Eramore. He carried it always. Then one day when he was hunting he rode across a bridge and it collapsed. The stone fell out of the staff into the river below and was then lost forever…… |
