Maggie Knight

And the continued story

 Of the gray room

By: Hannah, 6th grade

Today is the worst day of my life. You know from the past story that my parents split up a year ago, well three years ago now. My mom after only three years is dating again, his named is Kevin! And I haven’t even said the best part yet, my mom is pregnant! Pregnant and better yet pregnant with triplets! I am so mad! I hate mom! No I should say that I don’t hate her I’m just so upset right now! Ugh! But on the bright side the guy she marrying isn’t that bad. Maybe everything will be fine. Oh what am I saying!

I am so excited! I get to go to my Uncle Bills again and solve the mystery of the gray room and there’s more thing they just got a new puppy and not just one two! I am so excited to go see them because that means that I get to get away from my puking mom and her boyfriend.  I also get to solve the mystery if I didn’t already mention that!

Ugh! Everything stinks! I just found out that my Aunt Sophie is pregnant too. She’s also pregnant with twins so I either get to deal with her puking or my mom puking. Hmm, I think I’ll choose Aunt Sophie! At least she doesn’t have an annoying boyfriend that is so supportive it’s annoying. When she throws up he leans over with her and says “It’s O.K just think of how good you will feel when you’re done.” If it were me I’d lift my head up and puke right into his face but instead when my mom is done she lifts her head up, uses some mouth wash, and gives him a big kiss and whispers thank you! Wow, her hormones must be on a wild rampage.

That was the weirdest dinner I have ever had in my entire life. Okay so here’s what happened. First my mom tells me that she loves me and she hopes that I’m excited for her and I responded “Sure mom I’m very happy for you.” Then the weirdest part happened, her boyfriend came up to me and said this “Hello Maggie” “Hey!” I responded “I want to talk to you about something.” “Sure Kevin”  “I want to tell you that anytime you need anything I’ll be here.” “O.K” I said and started to walk away but he put his hand on my shoulder and I spun around “And Maggie, one more thing.” “What Kevin” I said getting very annoyed with him “I would appreciate it if you would start to call me Dad” I looked at him right in the eyes and said this “You, Dad I would never even think of calling you Dad; you aren’t even married or engaged to my mom. You are not my dad, my dad is a nice, charming, man that gave birth to me with my mom and I think that him and him alone dissevers the title Dad is that clear?!” “I am not proud of you Maggie I expected…” “I don’t care what you think of me, you little…” I said in a whisper so that my mom wouldn’t over hear. Just then my mom yelled “Super time” and I stormed out of the room to wash my hands. At the dinner table my mom sat by Kevin and I sat by myself. This is what we looked like at the dinner table:

I know it was really that bad, all the way from the little heart to the lightning bolt above my head. I have had a roller coaster of a day so I think I am going to go to bed! Goodnight!

That was the best sleep that I have ever had in my entire life! I feel so rested and the thought that next week I get to go to Uncle Bills is mind bobbling! Even though my Aunt is pregnant I have a feeling that it will be ten times better than my mom being pregnant because once 3 weeks is over I get to leave I don’t have to deal with her any longer! Thank goodness! I am so excited to ditch my mom’s boyfriend and have freedom, finally!

The big day is FINALLY here. I was packed and ready to go at 7:00 am even though we weren’t going to leave until 9:00 am.  I was so excited that I had gotten up at 5:00 in the morning! I am a late riser so it was very unusual for me. I entered my mother’s room to wake her up so that she could take me to my Uncles house because it was 8:50 and I hadn’t even seen her yet. I walked into the room and lightly said mom a couple times getting louder each time I said it. I walked into the master bathroom and saw her crouched over the toilet puking her guts out. She stood up and she was huge! Her stomach looked like it had grown over night. “Wow mom you look huge!” I said to her when she was done. She looked at me smiled and then said this “I know and by the way the doctor said that I was too big to get behind the wheel so Kevin is going to have to drive you.”  I stood there with my mouth hanging wide open while my mom walked away to go get dressed. This would be horrible I didn’t even want to think about driving a whole three hours with that mad man! Uh and she just walks away like it’s no big deal. “Maggie come on it’s time to go!” Kevin yelled. I gave my mom a hug and said goodbye then stomped my way downstairs. When I reached the door I looked Kevin right in the eyes and said “Look buddy I’m not any happier about this than you are.” Then I started to walk to the car. As Kevin walked to the car he said “I’m actually very happy about this because it will give a chance to really bond before the wedding.” I stopped in my tracks right before I was about to enter the car and spun around and looked at him “What did you say?” I gasped as I stared down at the ground. “I said before the wedding, hasn’t your mother told you?” he asked very suspiciously. “No” I said very quietly “My mother hasn’t told me anything” I looked up at him and he looked as red as a tomato because he has very fare skin and he blushes very easily. “You and my mom are getting married?!” I asked him very quietly as my head turned back to look at the ground. “Surprise?” he said very quietly. I ran back into the house ran up stairs, darted into my mom’s room and yelled “Why didn’t you tell me?!” I sobbed “Sweetheart what did I not tell you?” she said as she ran over to me.

“Mom, why didn’t you tell me that you were engaged?!” As I said this I stabbed my finger at him. Kevin was standing in the doorway completely red from head to toe. “Kevin I told you that I wanted to tell her myself so that something like this wouldn’t happen.” I ran into my mom’s arms told her that I loved her then I ran down stairs, out the door and into the car. I slammed the door behind me. I waited in the car for five minutes then got so mad that Kevin wasn’t there that I stormed back into the house and ran into “their” bedroom to see them kissing “goodbye”. “Kevin get your butt in the car!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. He rushed down to the car along side of me and we both were headed to Uncle Bills.
