First Quarter Progress Report: Second and Third Grade
This quarter the third graders learned what it means to be a scientist. Using wintergreen lifesavers the students learned how to make scientific observations using their five senses. They also learned about the structures and functions of animals related to survival through a variety of hands-on activities. The students observed, compared, and recorded the use of structures and behaviors of vertebrates. They discovered what life would be like without their opposable thumbs by completing a series of tasks with their thumbs taped to their hands and then without their thumbs taped.
