This course is for
students who wish to take Calculus, but not the Advanced Placement
exam. The course will cover the same material as the AP class, but
at a slightly slower pace and not in as much detail. Most students
who take this class will be well prepared for Calculus at the college
level. Some may even test out of the first semester of Calculus at
their chosen college. (It depends on the college.)
Grading:
The notebook will be made up of daily homework assignments and will be taken up at the end of each chapter just before the chapter test is distributed. Late notebooks will be accepted with a penalty of 5 points for each class period it is late. Quizzes and tests missed due to an excused absence must be made up within the guidelines determined by Dunbar's administration. Generally, this means that if a student misses one of two class periods, the make-up work will be due the period following the students return. If a students misses three or more days, an extra period is given to get the work made up. Students who are absent are strongly urged to get the assignment from a classmate. If a student misses several class periods, it may be necessary to make arrangements with the teacher for some help getting caught up before or after school. Students with an unexcused absence will not be allowed to make-up missed quizzes or homework. Tests may be made up. It is strongly recommended for students to make up missed homework assignments as the material will be covered on future tests. |
