Class Information
Team Policies and Procedures
Outcomes - Outcomes are what the students are expected to know at
the end of each lesson. Outcomes are posted on the board.
Outcomes will be written in the planner daily to let you know what the
students are learning. Homework Policy - Homework will be sent
home every Monday and due on Friday. Students are required to read
for 20 minutes each night Monday-Thursday. The book that your
child reads should be recorded in the planner on the day it is read.
Classroom Rules: -Come to class prepared with all materials.
-Follow adult directions promptly. -Keep objects, hands, feet, and
inappropriate comments to yourself. -Stay on task. Behavior
Management Plan - Our team is implementing a positive behavior
management system which teaches children to take responsibility for
their own behaviors. We will begin by teaching each child exactly
what each behavior looks like. As a team, we will expect each
child to follow these behaviors. We understand that some children
learn faster than others and will assume the responsibility of
re-teaching students a behavior if they have not learned the behavior.
If a student does not follow a classroom rule, the student will be
re-taught that rule during their recess time. You will be notified
by either a note in the planner or a phone call if a behavior has to be
re-taught for you to discuss at home. Rewards will be given to
students who consistently follow classroom rules and procedures.
We would appreciate your support by encouraging your child to do their
best to be successful each day. If a child is having difficulty that
does not fall into the realm of normal daily behaviors, one or more of
the following actions may be taken. -Phone call home. -A visit to
Ms. Burke. -Further action may be needed depending on the behavior.
Assessments - KCCT (Kentucky Core Content Test) is a state
mandated test that tests 3rd graders in the areas of mathematics and
reading. Both multiple choice and open responses in each subject
are required. In order to prepare for these assessments, both 2nd
and 3rd grade will have Review Fridays. Students receive snacks
after lunch on Friday for complete work. We are asking parents to
help provide these snacks. Information will follow.
Parent-Teacher Communication - Each student has a home folder.
One side of the folder is work and information that students can "leave
at home" (i.e. graded papers, newsletters, flyers). The other side
is work that must be "returned to school" (i.e. any paper that requires
a parent signature, homework, or absentee excuses). Please check
the home folder daily. The planner will be the primary means of
communication between school and home. We check planners daily.
-Newsletters are sent home in the home folder twice each month or as
needed. -Teachers check email daily. -Our planning is 12:35-1:25
daily. Feel free to call the school 381-4979 during our planning. |
