9/7/07 A note from Mrs. Mudd Thanks to Dana Chaney, Maggie McHugh and Michelle Young for volunteering to be our home room parents!!!Thanks to everyone for prompt arrival and pick up. Children in the morning class arrive by 7:45 and dismissal is at 10:45. For children in the afternoon class arrive by 11:35 and dismiss begins at 2:35. When children are absent please call the front office and send a note with the child’s name, date of absence and reason for absence. Thanks for those of you who have called in and sent note for absences.This week at school, our theme was Teddy Bear!! The children practiced sitting and listening to a story, experienced reading materials with interest and enjoyment, engaged in active listening and learned how to draw meaning from pictures, print and text. We also began learning about letter of the alphabet. We played game with the letter B. We practice the sound that it makes as well as learning how to notice the upper and lower case Bb. Next week the children will begin some regular home work with a reading log. Look for information to come!!
Important DatesSeptember 1st thru October 15th Magnet Applications are now being accepted Dixie is a magnet school in Fayette County. That means that if you do not live in the Dixie school district then you can apply to send your child to Dixie. If you do not live in the Dixie district and your child will be of Kindergarten age for the 2007 -2008 school year and you want them to attend Dixie, you need to fill out an application on line at www.fcps.net If you need help with this please let me know. September 20th School pictures-information will be coming home soon September 20th Our 1st Story Time!! 9:00 for the morning class and 1:00 for the afternoon class. Parents are invited to attend!!! September 24th The LEAP (Literacy, Eating & Activity for Preschoolers) for Health curriculum is a series of 10 lessons using storybooks to teach children about staying healthy, being physically active and eating more fruits and vegetables. September 27th and 28th No School for Early Start- we will be visiting with the families who have not had their first Home visit yet as well as preparing the classroom for upcoming activities.
