Parents
Dear Parents,
We are very excited about our
new Music Room at Liberty! We will be a very hands-on Music
Class, using all of our beautiful instruments, including our new
electronic Yamaha Clavichord piano, a large instrumentarium of Orff
instruments (xylophone-type instruments played with mallets) and lots of
percussion instruments. We will be doing a lot of singing, playing
party games, dancing and moving. Every child will learn how to
read and write music. For more information, go to
Core Content.
Any child in Grade 4 may join
Orchestra, taught by our Orchestra specialist. Any Grade 5 student
may continue in Orchestra or they may join Band, taught by the
Band specialist.
We will have lots of performances at
Liberty Elementary School this year. The drama teacher "Drama
Mama" and I will combine classes to prepare for these performances,
which will incorporate core content from both Music and Drama. The
Grade 1 and Grade 2 classes will perform Appalachian Folk Tales in late
October or November. Grade 3 students will perform a program of
traditional folk tales, also in the late fall. Grade 4 and Grade 5
students will be performing in the Veterans Day program on November 11.
We will have a Winter Music Program in December which will involve every
student.
Mrs. Elliott is available for private
piano lessons after school on Mondays and Wednesdays. These
lessons are for beginner students from Grade 2 up. If interested,
please send an email to
Mrs. Elliott
and we will send you a brochure.
