Classroom Behavior Rules and Courtesies

Mr.  Stevens

1. Keep your hands off of the teacher's desk and do not touch lab equipment (including gas and water fixtures) or begin labs until the teacher instructs you to do so.

2. Honor, respect, and good manners are to be practiced at all times.

a. Talk only when you have the floor, not when the teacher or a fellow student is talking,

b. No food or drink.

c. No feet on or sitting on desks or lab tables.

d. No paper is to be thrown on floors, in desks, or thrown at the trash can. e. No profanity or slang terms that are derogatory, d. No hats, rakes, combs in hair, or sunglasses may be worn in class.

3. I decide if you go anywhere.   (You must use the nearest restroom or water fountain.) Passes will not be issued within 15 min. of bell.  DO   NOT  INTERRUPT  ME  TO  USE  THE  HALL   PASS!!!!!

4. No radios or "walkmans" are allowed in the classroom.

5. The student handbook rules will be strictly followed; it is your responsibility to know them, (make­up work, cheating, scheduled tests, grading scale, ect.)

6. No using the phone during class.

7. You will be counted tardy if you are not in your seat when the tardy bell rings. I dismiss class at the end of the period not the bell.

8. Your book, paper, and writing utensil, and pocket notebook are required every class. I DO NOT SUPPLY   YOU   SOMETHING   TO   WRITE   WITH!!!!  a. Paper must be smooth edged and letter size, b. Writing utensil may be a #2 pencil, a black or blue pen. C. Notebook is a folder with two pockets.

9. Unexcused late papers will be made up during ESS. Excused make-up work will follow school guidelines.  

1 0. Tests are announced at least three days ahead of time. If you are present the day of a scheduledtest you are required to take it. (Exceptions will be considered in case of extended illness) "Art gum" erasers are required on test days.

Grades

1. On a point system. (Points received over points possible)

a. Do not ask me what percentage an assignment's grade is. You figure it.

2. Points will vary on tests and class work. Your course grade is based on 30% tests and 50% class work, homework, quizzes, and 20% labs.

3. Quizzes may be announced and unannounced. You may not make up quizzes. Any excused quiz will receive the same average as the student gets on the chapter test the quiz was taken from.

4. Grades are posted by number at least bi-weekly. Keep track of your progress.

 

 Conduct Grades

(S)   Satisfactory:

Everyone starts with an "S". When you accumulate one or more of the following, you will receive an "N".

 

(N) Needs Improvement:

a. 3 unexcused tardies to my class.

b. Repeated offense of the behavior rules.

c. Excessive talking or blurting out when not called upon.

d. Acting rude or continued bothering of another student.

e. Sleeping in class.

 

(U)   Unsatisfactory

a. Refusing to follow my directions, talking back to me, or being belligerent.

b. Cheating (copying or allowing copying, or using my class to copy work in other classes)

c. Excessive repeated offenses.

d. Fighting

e. Any conduct that involves a referral to the principal.

f. 5 unexcused tardies.

g. Lying

* Major improvement in your behavior in a semester can improve your conduct grade.
