What is “Picnic on the Dawgwood”?
Picnic at the Pops meets the Dunbar Gym!  This annual concert has become the most popular fundraiser for the PLD Music Department with proceeds shared by the orchestra, band, and chorus who will all be performing to make this evening a night to remember.

When:         Friday, May 14th, 2010  doors open @6pm, concert starts at 7pm
Where:           PLD High School Gym - presented by the PLD Music Department

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
Bring all the friends and family you can and choose one of two ways to enjoy the show.  General Admission is 5 dollars per person-these are seats in the bleachers above all the action.  This year, we will allow elementary school students free general admission as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult.  The real fun, however, is on the floor.  Tables can be reserved so that you can bring a picnic dinner and eat while you are entertained.  Tables can be reserved for 6, 8, or 10 people and the price is 7 dollars per person for this.  NEW THIS YEAR- want to sit on the floor but don’t have a party of 6?  We will leave a long row of tables on the floor for general table seating.  These seats are purchased at the door for 7 dollars per seat while they last. (Sorry, no discount for child floor seats)

WHAT ELSE CAN WE EXPECT?
Two of the most popular attractions are the raffle table and the silent auction.  Some of our faithful parents have been busy soliciting items from local businesses that will be part of raffle baskets or will make excellent items to bid on in the silent auction.  WE CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH of these items and every parent is encouraged to lend a hand.  Does your business have promotional items that would be great in a raffle basket?  Do you offer services that would make great additions to our silent auction?  No item is too big or too small and all individuals or businesses that donate items will be thanked in our program that will be seen by 500 performers and their families.    Many years we are able to give away some promotional items as door prizes and only our generous families and local businesses make this possible.  Official letters requesting donations can be found on the orchestra website.

If you can secure items or services as donations, be sure to get complete information to us so we can send a nice thank you letter (which can be used for tax purposes) to the individual or company.  We have letters available that we use to solicit items, if you need copies of those, let us know that too.  Contact: Diane Adkins 223-5385 or email RDElswick@aol.com .
