Rules and Guidelines
1. Everyone must dress out everyday in order to receive credit. 2. Everyone must wear appropriate gym clothes (t-shirt, shorts/sweats, tennis shoes and socks). Do not wear school clothes to gym. 3. Only a doctor’s note will excuse you from participation in class, but you should still dress out. 4. No jewelry is to be worn during P.E. class. 5. We will go outside from fall to November and from March until May. On chilly days, bring a sweatshirt / jacket and sweat pants. Not having the proper clothing is not an excuse to stay inside. If the class goes outside, you will be expected to go outside, even if you are not dressed to participate. 6. On the third non-dress, you will be sent to the office. On the fourth non-dress, you will be sent to SAFE for the rest of the block. On the fifth non-dress, you will be sent to SAFE for the rest of the day. Further failure to dress out may result in suspension.
1. There is to be no food, drink, gum, or tobacco in or around the gym. 2. You may use the PE lockers only during the block that you have class. 3. It is highly recommended that you bring a lock to class and you must take it with you when you leave. 4. Do not bring money or valuables to the gym. You are responsible for your belongings.
1. If you have an excused absence, you must do make-up work (see attached handout) to receive credit. 2. If you miss a test and have an excuse absence, you will be given one week to make up the test. All make-up tests will be given before and after school. Class time will not be given to make up a test. You must meet with me to set up a time to take the test. 3. Unexcused absences cannot be made up.
1. You are to be in the gym before the tardy bell rings. 2. If you are late, you will be expected to report to SAFE, unless you have an official signed note. 3. You will have seven minutes to be dressed and seated in your squad ready for warm-ups.
1. Students will be expected to record all assignments and grades in their agenda. 2. Students agendas must be available for review. 3. Late assignments will have a 10% reduction in points. 4. After a week, the assignment will not be taken for a grade.
1. Students will be expected to stay on task until the teacher dismisses class. 2. You will be given plenty of time to get dressed after class. 3. When you exit the locker room, you will be expected to wait for the bell alongside the bleachers. You may not wait in the gym foyer or gather at the doors.
1. Students will remain quiet while during teacher instruction. 2. Students will show courtesy and respect to the teacher and fellow students. 3. Students will refrain from using profanity at all times. 4. Students will participate and give their best effort each day. 5. If you jeopardize the safety of yourself or others at anytime, you will be removed from class. 6. All other school rules apply to this class (no hats, walkman, etc.).
Discipline infraction (depending on severity) will be handled by: 1. Verbal reprimand / talking with student about class expectations 2. Notifying parents of negative behavior (calling, parent conference, etc.) 3. After-school detention / Saturday detention 4. Discipline referral |
