Fitness points are due each week from 4th and 5th
grade students. These are activities that your child does at home
for points that adds up to ten percent of their grade. It should
be a activity that lasts 30 minutes or more and two are required. So if
your child goes to football practice for two hours every three nights a
week, that is worth 3 points. Jumping rope for 10 minutes and playing
basketball for 20 if a combination of activities that equals a fitness
point. Any extra activity points done per week is counted as extra
credit.
These activities are expected to be done over any days
off that we have, but only two are required for a week. I will
accept fitness points no more than two weeks late. Fitness points are
for the benefit of the student. With P.E. only being one time a
week, I feel that this is the best way to demonstrate to students that
fitness is ongoing and up to them. It is a great way for them to learn
that being physically active is one of the integral parts of growing
into a responsible citizen/human being that lasts the rest of their
life. |
