Editing Your Web Page From Home

Note: Teacher web pages are on a FrontPage server downtown. You must have a copy of FrontPage on your home computer in order to access and edit your pages directly on the server.

 

  1. Open FrontPage.
  2. On the Menu bar, click on File Open Web.
  3. In the Look in box, click the down arrow and scroll until you find My Network places (this may be on your desktop)
  4. At the bottom of the Open Web window, you will see Folder Name. Type in http://www.staff.fcps.net/mpwill (after the forward slash, you should type in your username i.e.mpwill) Click Open. Note: You will only have to type in the full address the first time you access your page on your computer. Any time after that, when you click on Open Web, you should see in the Look in: box Web Folders and a folder icon with your page address. . If Web Folders does not appear, click on My Network Places.
  5. An authentication window will appear. For Name: Fayette\mpwill.(If this doesn't work, just type in your username)  For Password: type in your network password. Click Ok.
  6. If you don’t see your files, click on View on the menu bar Folders. On the left side of the window, you should see all your folders, and on the right, you should see all your files.
  7. Double click on the file you want to change.
  8. Make your changes and then Save. Your changes will automatically be saved to the server.

To see if your changes have been made:

Note: Keep FrontPage open (you are still on the server)

  1. Access your web through your browser by typing in http://staff.fcps.net/mpwill (substitute your user name for mpwill)
  2. Be sure to click the refresh button.
  3. If you don’t see your changes, minimize your browser and return to FrontPage and redo your changes.
