Math homework will be given on Monday (or the 1st day of school for the week) and will be due on Friday (or the last day of school for the week). We would like for each child to read at least 20 minutes each night of the week.  However, realizing that many families are very busy, we only REQUIRE that the students read 4 times per week.  Reading logs are checked each Friday and must be kept in the folders at all times.  Many students find it easier to get in their required reading if they read over the weekend. Your help is greatly appreciated in monitoring this through signing the reading log.  Be sure to check for specific reading assignment, flash cards and reading logs in the folder as well.

REMEMBER:  Have the child do his or her homework on their own.  It is best if parents only look over homework and assist where needed.  Handwriting progresses only through practice, practice, PRACTICE!! Patience is KEY for a beginning reader.  Find a nice spot to relax and enjoy the process with your child.  You will be amazed by how quickly they become more fluent.
