Objective: to solve basic addition facts quickly and accurately In math, it is very important that we learn our basic addition and subtraction facts. There are several different ways to get faster and still be accurate. Here are some ways: - Use flash cards at home at least 10 minutes a day. - Play addition and subtraction games at school or at home, like Name that Number. - Write your fact families every day for at least 10 minutes a day. - Play math games on your computer at school and at home.
Today in Technology, we're going to use games online to give us practice on our addition and subtraction facts. I want us to see if we get faster and more accurate by the end of the hour. 1. Right now, Ms. Hodge is going to hand out a sheet of addition and subtraction problems. Put your name on the paper and then flip it over. Ms. Hodge will give you 2 minutes to fill out the sheet. When she calls "time!", put down your paper and flip it over. 2. Now we're going to practice our addition and subtraction facts by playing math games online. Go to the following sites and practice your addition and subtraction facts by playing the games.
3.When Ms. Miller says "time!", close out your window, stop, and look at Ms. Miller. She will then hand out the same sheet from before. Put your name on your paper and flip it over. Then Ms. Miller will give you 2 minutes to fill it out again. 4. Now see if that practice paid off. Did you do better the second time? If you did, then you know practicing really does help! |
