Text Box:      Our routines in 2nd grade are well underway!  I am so proud of our class and the way each child demonstrates such care and respect for others in our classroom.       We have spent the first three weeks learning about the rights and responsibilities of citizens and how we can be good citizens in the many different groups we belong in as second graders.       In our Reader’s Workshop, we have been learning to think about and identify the characters and setting as well as the main idea of a story as we read.  The children have greatly enjoyed the many books in our class both during read aloud and independent reading.       Students have been very busy writing true , personal stories (personal narratives) each day in Writer’s Workshop.  They are learning to select appropriate topics, write  correct and complete sentences, and to use various strategies to spell tricky words in their writing.       The children are really blooming in the area of learning to express themselves orally and to “think aloud” about what they are learning.  It is exciting everyday to hear them share their new discoveries with our class.  We all learn from one another!      Thanks for sharing your child with me.   Each one is such a joy and adds so much to our classroom community!                                                                          Most sincerely,                                                                        Mrs. Hart      Text Box: Join the PTA and help our class earn a popscicle party!   Grandparents Day September 5, 2008 Text Box: If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to contact me by email: CynthiaHart@ fayette.kyschools.us Or by phone: 859-381-3116 ext. 2303 Text Box: Greetings 2nd Grade Families!
