Lafayette High School is located in the heart of the bluegrass within Lexington, Kentucky.  Lafayette was built in 1939, as part of a WPA project to replace Picadome High School.  Lafayette has recently been remodeled, keeping the  classic design of the exterior while updating  the interior for the 21st century.  Lafayette has been able to provide the Creative and Performing Arts Magnet School, while still supporting a comprehensive high school curriculum. The Lafayette school year consists of two semesters with each being 18 weeks long.  Lafayette functions on a block 8 schedule with alternating days.  The school boasts a student population over 2000 students, with a student/teacher ratio of 17:1.
