Lafayette High School
Lafayette High School is located in the heart of the bluegrass within
Lexington, Kentucky. Lafayette was built in 1939, as part of a WPA
project to replace Picadome High School. Lafayette has recently been
remodeled, keeping the classic design of the exterior while updating
the interior for the 21st century. Lafayette has been able to provide
the Creative and Performing Arts Magnet School, while still supporting a
comprehensive high school curriculum.
The Lafayette school year consists of two semesters with each being 18
weeks long. Lafayette functions on a block 8 schedule with alternating
days. The school boasts a student population over 2000 students, with a
student/teacher ratio of 17:1.
