See a list of this year's winners below!
Projects may be brought into class any of three days. November 26, 27, or 28. Projects turned after this date will lose 20 points per day and can not be entered into the school fair nor will they be eligible for the county fair.
Science Fair projects are required from all sixth grade students and will be used as graded work in the classroom. If the project meets an acceptable standard then the student can enter it into the school wide science fair. Fifteen of the best projects are then chosen to represent Hayes Middle School in the Fayette County Science Fair.
Preparation for the Science Fair begins with the teaching of Experimental Design during the first 4 1/2 weeks of the school year. During this series of activity based lessons the student learns about writing a Hypothesis, what an Independent Variable and a Dependent Variable is, how to collect and interpret Data, and how to summarize the experiment in a Conclusion.
An Experimental Design review is presented to the student during the first 2 weeks of November and final preparations are made toward the completion of the students project.
